Born: 1911, Panjinangan, Java.

 

career:

Son of the former, went to Holland after finishing the secondary school, and studied biology (botany) at Utrecht University. He took his Dr's degree in 1943 at Utrecht University on a thesis dealing with Malaysian Melastomataceae.1 At present Assistant in the Rijksherbarium, Leiden, assisting Backer in the completion of the Flora of Java.

 

Collecting localities:

W. Java. In the years 1920-25, mostly with his father (see there) in the environs of Buitenzorg, etc.; in 1925 besides in Bantam Res. (June 13-15), e.g. on G. Karang (13) and on the way to Holland in Sumatra East Coast: Padang Boelan (Aug. 8-9) and at Sabang (P. Weh, N of Sumatra) (Aug. l0).

 

collections:

In Herb. Pasoer [see BO]: 136 nos (pres. 1923-29), all collected in the environs of Buitenzorg (G. Batoe, G. Salak etc.) in W. Java. His private collection amounting to 3820 nos from W. Java is present in Herb. Bog. [BO], a duplicate set was presented to Herb. Utrecht [U] (1936); dupl. in Leiden [L] too.
