career

Commissary of the Dutch Government, who in 1816 was instructed to take over Bandjermasin from the English (after the interval of British Rule). He is recorded to have collected objects of the three kingdoms of nature, at the request of Reinwardt.1 With a view to the unhappy fate of most of the latter’s shipments, it remains very doubtful whether Boekholz’s specimens ever reached Holland.

In 1818 he was commissioned to Borneo’s West Coast with the expedition under Major Muntinghe, to establish Dutch authority there.
