Haacke, J. Wilhelm

Born: 1855, Klenze, Hanover, Germany.

 

career:

At first Assistant of the Zoological Institute at Jena and Kiel; 1882-84 Director of the Museum at Adelaide, Australia; 1888-93 Director of the Zoological Garden at Frankfurt a.M. and besides University Lecturer at Darmstadt. He travelled in Australia and New Guinea; to the latter island as Chief Scientist (zoology and geology) of an expedition under the command of H.C. Everill (see below).

Trigonotis haackei F.Muell. was named after him.

 

Collecting localities:

‘Bonito’ Expedition, 1885.1 SE. New Guinea, Papua; cf. sub Bäuerlen (detailed itiner., liter., etc.) and Bernays.
