Born: 1897, Amersfoort, U., Holland. Died: early March 1942, killed during battle, Tjiater Pass above Bandoeng, Java.

 

career:

Joined the D.E. Indian Army in 1919 as a 2nd lieutenant; officer in command of the military detachment accompanying the 3rd Archbold Expedition (1938-39) in Dutch New Guinea (cf. sub L.J. Brass). In 1940 he was promoted to the rank of major, and appointed Military Commander of Semarang.

He collected some plants during the above-mentioned expedition, which were evidently inserted in the collection Brass (see there) and elaborated with the latter.
