Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 40 m tall and 90 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves
alternate, simple penni-veined. Flowers ca. 3 mm in diameter, green-yellow to
yellow, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 15 mm long, dark purple, fleshy drupe.
Ecology
In undisturbed freshwater- or peat-swamp forests up to 1000 m altitude.
Sometimes growing at the seashore and on hillsides with sany soils. In secondary
forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.
Uses
Timber is used for house construction.
Distribution
Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah,
Central- and East-Kalimantan) and New Guinea.
