(Latin for 'triangular shaped')

Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 33 m tall and 60 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined. Flowers with ca. 45 mm long, narrow petals, pale yellow, fragrant, placed on the twigs. Fruitlets ca. 15 mm long, green-brown, placed in apocarp, fruitlets with several seeds.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 550 m altitude. Spread throughout the forest, from swamps, to riversides, to hillsides and ridges. Growing on sandy-loam soils. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.

Uses
The timber is used for construction work.

Sumatra and Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, West- and East-Kalimantan).
