Canarium odontophyllum Miq., Sum. (1861)
Latin for 'toothed leaf'.

Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 36 m tall and 86 cm dbh. Pseudo-stipules with fimbriate margin, persistent and large. Leaves alternate, compound, penni-veined, margins toothed. Flowers ca. 10 mm in diameter, white-yellow, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 32 mm long, purple-black, fleshy drupe.

Ecology
In undisturbed lowland forests up to 600 m altitude. Mostly on hillsides and ridges, but sometimes also in swamps or along rivers. Quite often found on limestone. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Uses
The seeds are eaten.

Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah and East-Kalimantan) and the Philippines.
