Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 40 m tall. Leaves alternate, compound, penni-veined, petiole base and tip swollen, petiole glabrous. Flowers ca. 4 mm in diameter, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 30 mm long, red, fleshy drupe.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp and sub-montane forests up to 1700 m altitude. Usually on hillsides and ridges with sandy to peaty soils. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Distribution
Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah and East-Kalimantan), Philippines.
