Summary - A taxonomic revision of Bridelia Willd. for Southeast Asia is presented together with comments on the characters used, the biogeography of the species involved and the phytographic history of the genus. Nineteen species are recognised for the region (one from New Guinea was recently described as new). A key and full descriptions are provided. Maps illustrate the distribution of 15 species. Several distributional patterns were found which mainly reflect ecological requirements. The currently accepted infrageneric delimitation (especially on the sectional level) as proposed by Jablonszky (1915) seems no longer to meet the demands of modern taxonomy and is used here only as a handy working tool, but no attempt is undertaken to propose a new one.

Summary - Burmannia wallichii (Miers) Hook. f. (Burmanniaceae) is shown to occur in Malesia. The similarities between this species and related saprophytic Burmannia species from Southeast Asia are discussed, and the Flora Malesiana key published by Jonker (1948) is amended accordingly. A new taxonomic description of the species is provided.

Summary - Three new Malesian species of Viscaceae are described. Ginalloa flagellaris Barlow is distinguished as a species from New Guinea and New Britain, previously included within G. arnottiana Korthals. Viscum exile Barlow is recognized as a new species endemic to Celebes, related to V. ovalifolium. Viscum scurruloideum Barlow is named as a new species endemic to Java, equivalent to the taxon described as Ginalloa falcata by Danser.

Summary - Nineteen new species of the genus Bulbophyllum Thouars (Orchidaceae) are described. They originate from Sumatra (including the Riau Archipelago), Borneo, and Papua New Guinea. Five species belong to sect. Hirtula Ridl., four to sect. Leptopus Schltr., three to sect. Hybochilus Schltr., two to sect. Sestochilus (Breda) Benth. & Hook. f., and one to the sections Cirrhopetalum (Lindl.) Rchb. f., Epicrianthes (Blume) Benth. & Hook. f., and Monilibulbus J. J. Sm. each. Two more species cannot be assigned to any section with certainty; one of these may belong to sect. Desmosanthes (Blume) J. J. Sm. The other shows similarity to B. bisetum Lindl. and B. bisetoides Seidenf.; these three species together may well constitute a separate section.

Summary - Notes are given on various taxa in the Asian genera Endocomia, Horsfieldia, and Knema of the family Myristicaceae. Newly described taxa are Horsfieldia penangiana subsp. obtusifolia, H. perangusta, and Knema emmae, K. krusemaniana, K. kunstleri subsp. leptophylla, K. longepilosa, and K. ridsdaleana.

Summary - Goodyera subregularis (Rchb. f.) Schltr. from New Caledonia and Vanuatu is transferred to Anoectochilus. A non-peloric Anoectochilus, possibly the normal form of A. papuanus (Schltr.) Kittr., is recorded from New Guinea for the first time. Platylepis bombus J. J. Sm. and P. tidorensis J. J. Sm. are transferred to Moerenhoutia. The genus Tubilabium J. J. Sm. is reduced to Myrmechis Blume and the two species of the former are transferred. Cheirostylis quadrilobata Schltr. and C. chalmersii (Schltr.) Schltr. are also transferred to Myrmechis. The genus Myrmechis was not previously recorded from Sulawesi and New Guinea. Papuaea reticulata Schltr. is newly recorded from Irian Jaya; this monotypic genus is here illustrated for the first time. Odontochilus calcaratus Hook. f. is reduced to Pristiglottis uniflora (Blume) Cretz. & J. J. Sm.

Summary - Buses (1854) treatment of Junghuhns Gramineae appeared before more parts of Steudels Synopsis (1853 - 1855) than was previously thought. Agrostis rigidula Steud. becomes A. infirma Buse with 8 new varietal combinations. Arundinella fuscata Nees ex Buse previously regarded as a later homonym is invalid, and must be called A. goeringii Steud. Helictotrichon junghuhnii (Buse) Henrard supersedes H. virescens Nees ex Steud., and Tripogon exiguus Buse replaces T. semitruncatus Nees ex Steud.

Summary - A revision of the 17 species of Urochloa Beauv. (Gramineae) in Malesia is given. Because Brachiaria (Trin.) Griseb. has been nearly completely reduced to Urochloa, 3 new combinations are proposed. A new combination is also required for Urochloa paspaloides Presl. Brachiaria eruciformis (J. E. Sm.) Griseb. has been introduced in a few places in Malesia.

Summary - Two new varietal combinations are proposed under Hoya verticillata (Vahl) G. Don (Asclepiadaceae). The reason for the delay in the publication of Sperlingia Vahl is outlined.

Summary - Three new taxa in the genus Tournefortia L., T. luzonica I. M. Johnston subsp. angustissima, and T. oppositifolia are described from the Philippines, New Guinea, and the Moluccas, respectively. Also T. luzonica var. sublucens I. M. Johnston is raised to subspecific rank.

Summary - Coastal, psammophilous Spinifex littoreus, like other species of Spinifex, is dioecious in Indomalesia, but exceptions to dioecism are found in West Java, the Molucca Islands, and occasionally in the Philippines and northern Borneo. There dioecism has become degraded on the female side to trimonoecism, and sporadically to typical andromonoecism, through restoration of male fertility in some or all flowers. Interpretations of an androdioecious breeding system for Malesian S. littoreus are unsustainable.

Summary - In the family Rubiaceae four new taxa in Hedyotis and three new taxa in Lasianthus are described; ten other combinations are also made.

Summary - Erythrina L. is reviewed for the Flora Malesiana region. Six species are recognised. Erythrina merrilliana is reduced to E. insularis and E. microcarpa Koord. & Valeton to E. stricta. A key to the species is presented. [
