The presence of a combination of various character states (epiphytic habit, adventitious rootlets in rows along the internodes; capitate, involucrate inflorescences; certain floral features such as hooded corolla lobe apices; heterodistyly; fruit and seed morphology and anatomy; leaf anatomy) provides evidence that the monospecific Sri Lankan endemic Leucocodon and the small Malesian genus Lecananthus are to be added to the Schradereae, a tribe hitherto thought to be monogeneric.

A taxonomic revision of the Asiatic taxa of Schradera Vahl (formerly known as Lucinaea DC.) is presented. 16 species are recognized. Two new species (S. grandiflora, S. pseudonervulosa) are described from Borneo. The new name S. elmeri is published for the Philippine endemic previously known as Lucinaea involucrata. Two new subspecies are recognized in S. korthalsiana (subsp. korthalsiana and subsp. robusta) and three in S. membranacea (subsp. membranacea, subsp. flagellarioides, and subsp. parvifolia comb. & stat. nov.).

A taxonomic revision of Lecananthus Jack, a genus of three species occurring in Sumatra, the Peninsular Malaysia, and Borneo, is presented. A new species, L. peduncularis Puff, endemic to Sarawak, is described, and a new combination, L. pentander (Merr.) Puff (syn. Lucinaea pentandra Merr.), is published.

A new pachycaul species Tapeinosperma alatum D.E. Holland & P.F. Stevens (Myrsinaceae) is described from South Central Ceram. It is characterized by its huge leaves, over 1 m long, and congested, almost Gunnera-like inflorescence. The distinctive distribution of the Papuasian pachycaul species of Tapeinosperma is briefly compared with that of a number of other unrelated taxa.

The genus Cycas L is divided into four subgenera, all new, and thirty species are described, of which two are new. A new Asian genus, Epicycas de Laub., is recognized for several Cycas species and one undescribed species with a subterranean bulbous stem base. Keys to the subgenera of Cycas and their species, and to the genus Epicycas are given.

A taxonomic revision of Plagiogyriaceae is presented. One genus and 11 species are recognised. One species, P. egenolfioides, is subdivided into four varieties. Only one species, P. pectinata, occurs in the New World, all others in the Old World. One species, P. glauca, and one variety, P. egenolfioides var. decrescens, extend east to the S Pacific islands (Solomons).

New combinations under Chionanthus L. are made for Linociera beccarii, L. brassii, L. clementis, L. gigas, L. hahlii, L. kajewskii, L. nitida, L. remotinervia, L. riparia, L. rupicola, L. salicifolia, L. sessiliflora and L. stenura. Linociera cumingiana is synonymous with C. ramiflorus, L. novoguineensis and L. ovalis with C. rupicolus, L. papuasica with C. sessiliflorus and L. pubipaniculata with C. mala-elengi subsp. terniflorus. Linociera macrophylla sensu Whitmore proves to be C. hahlii.

The genus Strophioblachia Boerl. is very variable, but does not show any gaps in characters, which can be used for a further delimitation of taxa. This is shown for characters like habit, leaf blade shape, leaf blade base, staminate petals and disc lobes, bracts, and the fimbriae of the pistillate calyx. The characters show their differences on the same specimen (e.g., leaf shape), within the same area (e.g., size and number of staminate petals), or in different areas of the distribution range (e.g., efimbriate pistillate calices in China, Thailand, and Sulawesi). Therefore, the formerly recognized species and varieties are united into a single accepted species, S. fimbricalyx.
