Latin for 'carrying peas'.

Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 32 m tall and 76 cm dbh. Stem with white to yellow latex. Leaves opposite, simple, penni-veined, secondary veins placed close together, glabrous. Flowers ca. 9 mm diameter, white-pink. Fruits ca. 6 mm diameter, yellow-orange, fleshy drupes.

Uses
The timber is used for construction. The bark is used against diarrhoea.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp and swamp forests up to 100 m altitude. Usually on alluvial sites with sandy soils. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Distribution
Burma, Indo-China, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (Sabah, West-, Central-, South- and East-Kalimantan).
