Latin for 'raceme', referring to the inflorescence.

Description
Shrub up to 8 m tall and 30 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, mostly clustered near twig tip. Flowers ca. 8 mm in diameter, white, placed in racemes. Fruits ca. 11 mm long, white, grooved pseudocarp.

Ecology
Coastal up to 70 m altitude. Mostly along beaches, in mangroves or in coastal keranga forests.

Uses
The timber is very durable and strong, used for many purposes. The bark is used for tanning purposes.

Distribution
Eastern Tropical Africa, Madagascar, Tropical Asia, northern Australia and Polynesia. In Borneo found in Brunei, Sabah, South- and East-Kalimantan.
