Latin for 'large leaves'.

Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 40 m tall and 69 cm dbh. Often with stilt roots. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, petioles and leaf lower surface densely hairy, leaves very long, margin toothed. Flowers ca. 38 mm in diameter, yellow?, placed in composed racemes. Fruits ca. 18 mm long, green, fleshy indehiscent capsule with 1-2 seeds with aril.

Ecology
In undisturbed and secondary forests up to 200 m altitude. Mostly in swamp forest or alluvial sites, but also on dry places (ridges) with sandy soils. Often among the first plants that establish after fire in East Kalimantan.

Uses
The timber is used to make planks.

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, West-, Central-, and East-Kalimantan).
