Description
Emergent tree up to 51 m tall and 121 cm dbh. Twigs smooth. Stipules ca. 8
mm long. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined. Flowers ca. 10 mm in diameter,
white-yellowish, placed in panicles. Fruits ca.12 mm long, pale brown, 2-winged
nut, wings ca. 120 mm long, wind dispersed.
Ecology
In undisturbed forests with poor soils up to 1000 m altitude. Mostly in
alluvial sites (peat swamp, freshwater swamp), but occasionally on ridges in
mixed dipterocarp or keranga forest. On rocky to sandy soils, including
ultrabasic. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant
tree.
Uses
The wood is harvested for export purposes.

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah, West-, South- and
East-Kalimantan), Philippines.
