Shorea fallax Meijer, Act. Bot. Neerl. 12 (1963)
Latin for 'misleading', referring to its close resemblance to some other Shorea species.

Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 38 m tall and 92 cm dbh. Stem with resin. Stipules up to ca. 15 mm long. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, petiole and lower leaf surface with scales, feeling sand paper like. Flowers ca. 11 mm in diameter, white-red-purple, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 26 mm long, green-yellow-red, without wings or with three narrow up to ca. 47 mm long wings, dropped from the tree, not wind dispersed.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 1000 m altitude. Found throughout the forest, from alluvial sites to dry hillsides and ridges. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Uses
The timber is used.
