Description
Sub-canopy tree up to 23 m tall and 34 cm dbh. Stipules ca. 13 mm long.
Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, short petiole and many
secondary veins. Flowers ca. 1 mm in diameter, yellow, stamens protruding in
male flowers, placed on the twigs or stem. Fruits ca. 5 mm long, red, fleshy
drupes.
Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp and sub-montane forests up to 2200 m
altitude. Mostly on hillsides and ridges with clay soils, sometimes also on
limestone. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant
tree.
Distribution
Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah,
West-, Central-, South- and East-Kalimantan), Philippines.
