Description
Understorey tree up to 12 m tall and 19 cm dbh. Stipules ca. 7 mm long.
Leaves crowded at twig tips, alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous. Flowers
ca. 1 mm diameter, white-yellow, placed in racemes. Fruits ca. 10 mm long,
orange-red, indehiscent capsules, seeds with blue arils.
Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 500 m altitude. Mostly on
alluvial sites with clay soils. In secondary forests usually present as a
pre-disturbance remnant tree.
Uses
The wood is locally used for poles. The fruits are edible.

Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, West-, Central-, South- and
East-Kalimantan), Philippines.
