Latin for 'elongate'.
Description
Understorey tree up to 19 m tall and 26 cm dbh. Stipules very narrow, ca. 4
mm long. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, petiole with two
conspicuous glands near the leaf base. Flowers ca. 3 mm diameter,
greenish-white, placed in racemes with male flowers at the top and female
flowers towards the base. Fruits ca. 5 mm long, greenish, dehiscent, warty,
3-lobed capsules.
Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp and sometimes swamp forests up to 700 m
altitude. Mostly on hillsides and ridges, sometimes alluvial. Usually on sandy
soils, but also on clay and limestone. In secondary forests usually present as a
pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Firewood.

(Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, West-, Central- and East-Kalimantan), Philippines,
Celebes, Moluccas, New Guinea.
