Description
Understorey tree up to 13 m tall and 24 cm dbh. Stipules small. Leaves alternate, simple, tripli- to penni-veined, usually hairy below, unequal leaf base. Flowers ca. 1.5 mm diameter, green-yellowish, placed in very long racemes. Fruits ca. 7 mm long, grey-green, indehiscent, angular, fleshy capsules.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp, freshwater swamp and sub-montane forests up to 1200 m altitude. On alluvial and dry sites with sandy to clay soils. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Uses
The roots are used against fever. The fruits are edible.

Birma, Indo-China, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, West-, Central-, South- and East-Kalimantan), Philippines.
