Named after A.J.G.H. Kostermans [1906-1994], a Dutch botanist.

Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 39 m tall and 98 cm dbh. Stipules present? Leaves alternate, compound with leaflets alternating along rachis, leaflets penni-veined, glabrous, venation inconspicuous, lower surface slightly whitish. Flowers ca. 4 mm diameter, white-yellowish, placed on racemes. Fruits ca. 120 mm long, green, slightly to completely curled, dehiscent pods, inside of pod silvery-yellow, seeds red and with black dot.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 700 m altitude. Mostly on hillsides and ridges with sandy soils, but also on limestone. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.
