Cryptocarya strictifolia Kosterm., Reinwardtia 7 (1968)
Latin for 'stiff leaved'.

Note
Very similar to Cryptocarya griffithiana, and possible a synonym of that species.

Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 38 m tall and 92 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous to hairy, whitish below. Flowers ca. 2 mm diameter, yellow-white, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 20 mm long, blue-purple, fleshy drupes.

Ecology
In undisturbed to slightly disturbed mixed dipterocarp, swamp and sub-montane forests up to 1100 m altitude. Mostly on hillsides and ridges, but also on alluvial sites. On sandy to clay soils, but also on limestone. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.

Distribution
Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah, South- and East-Kalimantan).
