Latin for 'grayish'.
Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 32 m tall and 68 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves
alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, venation conspicuous. Flowers ca. 3
mm diameter, white-yellow turning red, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 23 mm
long, green?, drupes.
Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp, swamp and sub-montane forests up to 900 m
altitude. Often on alluvial sites and along rivers, but also common on hillsides
and ridges. On sandy soils, but also on limestone. In secondary forests usually
presents as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.
Distribution
Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah, Central- and
East-Kalimantan).
