Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 31 m tall and 44 cm dbh. Stipules ca. 4 mm long,
toothed. Leaves alternate, simple, tripli-veined, densely hairy
(sandpaper-like). Flowers ca. 14 mm diameter, white-yellow, placed in panicles.
Fruits ca. 25 mm long, yellow-orange-red, fleshy drupes.
Ecology
In undisturbed to slightly disturbed (open sites) mixed dipterocarp forests
up to 700 m altitude. Common on alluvial sites, hillsides and ridges with sandy
soils, but also on clay. In secondary forests usually present as a
pre-disturbance remnant.
Uses
The fruits are edible.

India, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo (throughout the island).
