Named after H. Cuming [1791-1865], a British plant and animal collector.

Description
Understorey tree up to 12 m tall and 30 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, compound, leaflets penni-veined, glabrous. Flowers ca. 1 mm diameter, yellow, placed in large panicles. Fruits ca. 10 mm diameter, orange-red, fleshy capsules. Seeds with aril.

Ecology
In open or disturbed sites in coastal, mixed dipterocarp and sub-montane forests up to 1500 m altitude. Often along rivers and streams or on steep hillsides and ridges. Usually associated with sandy and limestone soils.

Borneo (Sabah, East-Kalimantan), Philippines.
