Description
Understorey tree up to 13 m tall and 21 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves
alternate, compound, leaflets penni-veined, hairy below, petiolules sometimes
densly hairy. Flowers ca. 1.5 mm diameter, white-yellowish, placed in panicles.
Fruits ca. 24 mm diameter, pinkish-red, fleshy-capsule. Seeds with pink aril.
Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp, swamp and sub-montane forests up to 2000 m
altitude. On alluvial sites and along rivers, but also common on hillsides. On
clay soils. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.
Distribution
Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo (Sabah, East-Kalimantan).
