Description
Upper canopy tree up to 43 m tall and 88 cm dbh. Stem with white sap. Stipules ca. 4 mm long, hairy. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous. Flowers ca. 0.5 mm diameter, green-yellowish, flowers fused into elongate flower body. Fruits ca. 60 mm diameter, green-yellow, smooth syncarp with many seeds within flesh.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests up to 100 m altitude. On alluvial sites near rivers and streams. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.

Uses
The wood is used for house building.

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah, West-, Central- and East-Kalimantan), Moluccas, Australia.
