Description
Sub-canopy tree up to 29 m tall and 46 cm dbh. Stem with white sap. Stipules
ca. 2 mm long, hairy. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous to hairy
below. Flowers ca. 0.5 mm diameter, greenish, flowesr fused into globose flower
body. Fruits ca. 48 mm diameter, green-yellow, irregular shaped apocarp, with
only part of the fruits developed.
Ecology
In undisturbed to slightly disturbed (open) mixed dipterocarp forest up to
300 m altitude. Usually on hillsides with clay to sandy soils, also common on
limestone. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.
Uses
The fruits are edible.

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah, East-Kalimantan),
Moluccas, New Guinea.
