Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 35 m tall and 54 cm dbh. Stem with red sap. Stipules
absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, whitish below, hairy below.
Flowers ca. 8 mm diameter, yellow, placed in bundles. Fruits ca. 26 mm long,
yellow-orange-brown, hairy, dehiscent capsule. Seeds with mostly undivided red
aril.
Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp, swamp and keranga forests up to 500 m
altitude. On alluvial sites near or along rivers and streams. On sandy soils. In
secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Sabah, East-Kalimantan).
