Description
Understorey tree up to 20 m tall and 24 cm dbh. Stem with red sap. Stipules
absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, whitish below. Flowers
ca. 6 mm diameter, yellow, placed in bundles. Fruits ca. 28 mm long,
yellow-orange-brown, glabrous to hairy, dehiscent capsules. Seeds with nearly
undivided red arils.
Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp and peat-swamp forests up to 400 m
altitude. On alluvial sites, hillsides and ridges with clay to sandy soils. In
secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.

Sumatra, Borneo (throughout the island).
