Description
Shrub up to 10 m tall and 13 cm dbh. With knee-roots. Stipules ca. 30 mm
long, dropped early. Leaves opposite, simple, penni-veined, glabrous. Flowers
ca. 17 mm diameter, white-yellow, placed in three flowered cymes. Fruits ca. 51
mm long, green, elongate berry.
Ecology
In coastal mangrove and inland swamp forests up to 100 m altitude. On
alluvial sites and tidal river margins, usually on sandy but also clay soils.
Uses
The wood is used as firewood.
Distribution
Tropical Asia and Australia. In Borneo found throughout the island along the
coast and inland swamps.
