Pellacalyx lobbii (Hook.f.)

Named after T. Lobb [?-1894], a British plant collector.

Description
Upper canopy tree up to 48 m tall and 85 cm dbh. Stipules ca. 5 mm long,
dropped early. Leaves opposite, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, margin slightly
toothed. Flowers ca. 5 mm diameter, white, placed in axillary bundles. Fruits
ca. 12 mm long, green-red, berries.
Ecology
In undisturbed to disturbed (open) mixed dipterocarp forests up to 300 m
altitude. On hillsides and ridges with sandy soils, but also on clay and
limestone. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.
Uses
Wood used as rafters or as fire-wood.

Sumatra, Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, Sabah, East-Kalimantan).
