Note
Our specimens are provisionally names Rothmannia schoemannii, but are probably a new species all together that only occurs in Borneo. This remains a question until a revision is ready for this genus.

Description
Sub-canopy tree up to 29 m tall and 36 cm dbh. Stipules ca. 5 mm long, strongly pointed. Leaves in whorls of three leaves, simple, penni-veined, hairy. Flowers ca. 29 mm diameter, white-yellowish, with long corolla tube, flowers in small panicles. Fruits ca. 62 mm diameter, green, tough berries.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp and keranga forests up to 700 m altitude. Usually on hillsides and ridges. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.

Distribution
Burma, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo (throughout the island).
