Melicope accedens (Blume)

Latin for 'approaching', probably referring to its resemblance to
Euodia macrophylla.

Description
Understorey tree up to 17 m tall and 26 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves
opposite, tri-foliate compound, leaflets penni-veined, hairy. Flowers ca. 4 mm
diameter, white-yellow, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 5 mm diameter, greenish,
dehiscent capsules. Seeds black, remaining attached to the inflorescence after
dehiscence.
Ecology
In undisturbed to slightly disturbed (open sites) mixed dipterocarp, keranga,
(peat)-swamp, sub-montane and montane forests up to 2900 m altitude. Often on
alluvial sites and along rivers and streams, but also on hillsides and ridges.
Uses
The timber is locally used.
Distribution
Andaman Islands, Thailand, Indo-China, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java,
Borneo (throughout the island).
