Description
Mid-canopy tree up to 35 m tall and 50 cm dbh. Stem with white sap. Stipules
small. Leaves crowded at twig tips, alternate, simple, penni-veined but venation
barely visible, glabrous. Flowers ca. 16 mm diameter, white-yellow, placed in
axillary bundles or solitary. Fruits ca. 60 mm diameter, brownish, drupes.
Ecology
Originally from the Neotropics. In Asia usually planted near villages.
Uses
Cultivated for the edible fruits.
Distribution
Pan-tropical. In Borneo cultivated throughout the island.
