Symplocos fasciculata (Kuntze) Zoll., Syst. Verz. 2 (1854)
Latin for 'bundled', referring to the inflorescence.

Description
Understorey tree up to 16 m tall and 25 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, margin toothed. Flowers ca. 6 mm diameter, white-yellow, placed in short racemes. Fruits ca. 7 mm diameter, blue-purple, drupes.

Ecology
In disturbed forests or open sites in mixed dipterocarp and sub-montane forests up to 1200 m altitude. Usually near or along rivers and streams on clay soils.

Uses
The moist from pounded bark is used to treat eye sore.

Distribution
From Thailand to New Guinea (apparently absent on the Lesser Sunda Islands). In Borneo found throughout the island.
