Trigoniastrum hypoleucum Miq., Fl. Ind. Bat. Suppl. (1860)
Latin for 'white underside', referring to the white lower leaf surface.

Description
Upper canopy tree up to 47 m tall and 56 cm dbh. Stipules small, dropped early. Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous or hairy, lower surface whitish. Flowers ca. 7 mm diameter, white-cream, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 52 mm long, green-yellow, winged nuts.

Ecology
In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp, keranga, peat-swamp and sub-montane forests up to 1000 m altitude. Usually on hillsides with poor ultrabasic to sandy soils. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.

Uses
The poles are used to punt canoes.

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo (throughout the island).
