Description
Understorey tree up to 13 m tall and 26 cm dbh. Stipules absent. Leaves
opposite, simple, penni-veined, densely short hairy, whitish below. Flowers ca.
3 mm diameter, pink-blue-purple, placed in panicles. Fruits ca. 4 mm diameter,
pinkish-red, drupes.
Ecology
In secondary regrowth and open sites in mixed dipterocarp forests up to 300
m altitude. Usually near or along rivers and streams, and on hillsides. On sandy
to clay soils.
Uses
Apparently used against toothache.
Distribution
From India and southern China to New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. In
Borneo found throughout the island.
