Description
Sub-canopy tree up to 21 m tall and 30 cm dbh. Stipules ca. 8 mm long.
Leaves alternate, simple, penni-veined, glabrous, with slightly toothed margin.
Flowers ca. 8 mm diameter, white-yellow, placed in branched inflorescences.
Fruits ca. 16 mm long, green, dehiscent capsules.
Ecology
In undisturbed to slightly disturbed (open sites) in mixed dipterocarp
forests up to 800 m altitude. Mostly on hillsides with rich clay soils, or on
limestone. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant.
Distribution
Burma, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo (throughout the
island?).
