Task Force Molecular Systematics, Phylogeny & Biogeography
Welcome on the website of the
Molecular Systematics, Phylogeny and Biogeography Taskforce
of the Nationaal Herbarium Nederland
| This website gives an overview of the research
projects carried out by members of the Molecular Systematics, Phylogeny and
Biogeography Taskforce of the Nationaal Herbarium Nederland. Here you can
find information about graduate and advanced courses and meetings organised
by the Nationaal Herbarium Nederland. We have also included a list of
publications by our members and details of literature discussion sessions.
Information about our DNA bank and laboratory protocols is also available. |
Common research themes
The evolution of angiosperms, algae and fungi, that are currently under
revision at the Nationaal Herbarium Nederland for (inter)national systematic
treatments such as Flora Malesiana, Flora Neotropica, Flora of the
Guianas, Flora of the Netherlands, Dutch benthic freshwater Algae and Flora
Agaricina Neerlandica, comprise the central research interests of the
taskforce.

 |
We reconstruct
molecular phylogenies and analyse population genetic structure as well as
focusing on the importance of hybridization in plant evolution. In addition,
we study gene evolution and its implications for molecular phylogenetics,
key innovations in angiosperm evolutionary radiations and biogeography. A
wide range of molecular techniques are routinely employed in our research,
including RFLPs, AFLPs, cytometric DNA determinations and automated DNA
sequencing. |
