He paid a visit to Penang and Singapore in 1913 (cf. Burkill in Gard. Bull. Str. Settlem. 4, 1927, nos 4-5) and previously or subsequently visited Brit. N. Borneo (April-May),¹ especially the coastal region of the NE. projection of the island and part about Tenom.
