career:

Interpreter for the Chinese language, at first employed in China (Amoy), since Aug. 1864 in Banka, and since June 1869 at Padang (Sum. West Coast).

Salacia buddinghi Scheff. was named after him.

 

collections:

He forwarded a large amount of plants from Banka to Hort. Bog. (pres. 1865-68); probably part of the material was dried and preserved in Herb. Bog. [BO].
