Harland, William Aurelius

Born:  Scarborough, England. Died: Sept. 12, 1858, Hongkong.

 

career:

A colonel surgeon, M.D. Edinburgh 1845, first in China, and in Hongkong since 1848.

Harlandia Hance and some other plants have been named in his honour.

 

collections:

Herb. Kew [K]: plants from China and Hongkong. In the Brit. Museum [BM] specimens also, including Cyperus compactus from Singapore, collected in Maio (May) 1857.
