Heusser, Dr Carl

Born: 1888, Glattfelden, N of Zürich, Switzerland

 

career:

Biologist in the employ of the General Experiment Station of the AN.R.O.S., Medan (Deli, Sumatra East Coast), 1918-32; since 1932 volontaire at the Plant Physiological Institute of the ‘Eidgenöss. Technische Hochschule’ at Zürich.1 He visited Java, e.g. Tjibodas (slope G. Gedeh, W. Java) in May 1920.

Rhododendron heusseri J.J.Sm. was named after him.2

 

Collecting localities:

In or before 1932. Sumatra East Coast & Tapanoeli: G. Sibajak, Prapat, Samosir Peninsula (Toba Lake).

 

collections:

Herb. Bog. [BO]: 9 nos of Rhododendron (pres. 1932) and possibly few other plants. As early as 1920 he sent mosses to Herzog.
