Born: 1899, Vreeswijk, U., Holland.

Died: Sept. 18, 1944, drowned o/b s.s. Zuynio Maru during a Japanese transport of P.O.W.ís, W of Padang.

 

career:

Was educated at Wageningen Agricultural College; he came out to Java in 1925, and was appointed in temporary employ of the Government Guttapercha Estate at Tjipetir (W. Java); since 1927 on the staff cf the General Agricultural Experiment Station at Buitenzorg. In 1935, during a European furlough, he took his Drís degree at Wageningen.

 

Collecting localities:

S. Sumatra: Palembang (Dec. 1929); N. Sumatra: Toba Lake (Sept. 1931); Banka (mid 1932).

Herb.Bog. [BO]: 127 nos Palembang, 133 nos Toba Lake, 50 nos Banka; Herb. Leiden [L]: dupl. Sumatra (coll. 1931). On each trip numbering was started anew.
