Born: 1869, Soerabaja, Java. Died: 1949, The Hague, Holland.

career:

From ? 1890-1932 missionary in Central Celebes (Poso); in 1913 he was awarded the Honorary Dr’s degree in theology at Utrecht University; from 1924-30 he travelled in Central Celebes for scientific purposes.

He was the author of numerous ethnographical papers on Celebes.¹

(1) Mainly published in ‘Mededeelingen vanwege het Nederlandsche Zendelinggenootschap’ between 1892 and 1898 and in ‘Tijdschrift K.N.A.G.’ between 1898 and 1932.
