Born: 1890, Paramaribo, Surinam.

 

career:

Entered the D. E.I. Civil Service in 1913, passed several ranks and finally was appointed Resident; he was successively stationed in N. Celebes (1913-21), in Bali and Lombok Residency (1924-26), in Sumatra (1926-29; in 1928 for 8 months in Bali again), at Batavia (1929-31), in S. Celebes (1932-35), at Batavia again (1935-36), and finally in Celebes and Dependencies (1937-41 ; interrupted by a short furlough in 1939). In 1941 he was pensioned off.

Herb. Bog. [BO]: material of Dipterocarpus, collected at Karangasem (Bali) in Sangeh Reserve in 1927. This date does not correspond with his term of service in Bali, so it might be that the year of collecting rightly should be 1926!
