According to Lasègue (Mus. Bot. Deless., 1845, p. 328) the herbarium of the late Sir W.J. Hooker contained Java specimens, collected by Spanoghe (see there), Lichtenstein, etc. The only Lichtenstein known to the author is professor Henri Lichtenstein of Berlin, who made botanical collections in S. Africa (1803-06). The statement of Lasègue may be a mistake, or the herbarium of Lichtenstein may contain Java specimens collected by others.
