Long, Frank Reginald

career:

Born and educated at Winchester, England, where he received a thorough training in all the departments of Messrs Hillier & Sons, Nurseries, and subsequently at Kew. In charge of the Hill Garden, Taiping, Malay Peninsula, 1908-10, when Superintendent of Government Plantations, Perak (F.M.S.). After the rubber boom he resigned and took up planting in 1912. In 1921 he left the Malay Peninsula for health-reasons, settled in S. Africa where he joined the Port Elisabeth Parks Department from 1922-25, when he was appointed Beach Manager; in 1929 Superintendent of Parks besides.
