career:

Medical Officer in the D.E. Indian Army, whose special interest was zoology, and who made extensive collections on behalf of the Natural History Museum at Leiden.1 Since 1853 stationed in West Sumatra;2 in the course of 1861 transferred to Ambon,3 from where he made zoological collecting tours in the Moluccas and the Aroe Islands. In 1867 he went on furlough and returned to the Indies in 1869.

Sumatra West Coast, Padang Highlands: G. Singgalang and G. Merapi (c. 1859).

Preliminary identification by Teysmann;4 S. Binnendijk forwarded the collection to Miquel (since 1859 professor at Utrecht); in total c. 100 numbers. The present location is not known to the author.
