Born: 1902, Västra, Sweden.

 

career:

Forest Officer, from 1930 onwards at intervals in temporary employ of the D.E. Indian Forest Service; stationed in Banka 1930-32, exploring NE. Borneo 1933-34,1 and the ‘panglong’ regions in Central Sumatra in 1934;2 in 1941 he conducted a New Guinea expedition in the employ of the Dutch New Guinea Company. After the war, from 1947-50 once more in the D.E.I. Forest Service, stationed in New Guinea; from 1951-55 making some travels to Indonesia in the employ of the Forest Service of West Germany and the Krupp Company, making investigations on various bambu species; in 1956 filming in Bali, and from July of that year up to May 1957 inclusive, lecturing at the University of Indonesia at Bogor as Extraordinary Professor. Subsequently on leave to Sweden, but planning to go back to Bogor for a two-year’s term.

 

Collecting localities:

1933. NE. Borneo. 1941. W. & SW. New Guinea (May-Aug.).3 From Babo to the Vogelkop (western peninsula), ascending Motori River to Anakasi; valley of the Jakati; to the S. coast, touching Kaimana; Oemar River and Peronggo River; back to Oemar; Aindoea valley, Upper Aindoea; Namaripi River; camp on the Aindoea; village Aindoea; walking and sailing along the coast to the west: Jakopa, Patawai and hinterland, Boeroe and hinterland; Lakahia Bay; Omba River (60 km from the coast and back); Lakahia and Tarera, Kaimana, Argo(e)ni Bay and crossing to Babo. For dates cf. sub Aët who used slightly different names for his collecting localities.-1956. Bali, in the mountains.

He sent living orchids from Bali (coll. 1956) to Göteborg Botanic Garden.
